  • Day 1: Siliguri to Yuksom: Depart from Siliguri towards Yuksom.
  • Day 2: Yuksom to Sachen: Start trekking from Yuksom towards Sachen.
  • Day 3: Sachen to Tshoka: Trek from Sachen to Tshoka.
  • Day 4: Tshoka to Dzongri: Continue trekking from Tshoka to Dzongri.
  • Day 5: Dzongri to Thansing: Proceed from Dzongri to Thansing.
  • Day 6: Thansing to Lamuney: Trek from Thansing to Lamuney.
  • Day 7: Lamuney to View Point 1 and Back to Thansing: Hike from Lamuney to View Point 1 and return to Thansing.
  • Day 8: Thansing to Tshoka: Return from Thansing to Tshoka.
  • Day 9: Tshoka to Yuksom: Head back from Tshoka to Yuksom.
  • Day 10: Yuksom to Siliguri: Return journey from Yuksom to Siliguri.

Day 1: Arrival in Siliguri and Journey to Yuksom

  • Arrive in Siliguri by 9 AM and check in at the designated location.
  • Complete any necessary paperwork (ID checks, permits).
  • Embark on a scenic drive to Yuksom, the starting point of your trek.
  • Explore Yuksom to aid acclimatisation.
  • Overnight stay in a hotel in Yuksom.

Day 2: Yuksom to Sachen

  • Begin your trek behind the forest check post in Yuksom.
  • Traverse through fields and enter the picturesque Rathong River valley.
  • Hike through lush forests with occasional glimpses of sunlight.
  • Be aware of potentially slippery trails.
  • Witness the cascading Tshushay Khola waterfalls joining the Prek River.
  • Overnight stay in Sachen.

Day 3: Sachen to Tshoka

  • Ascend towards Tshoka, a challenging but rewarding climb.
  • Cross the Prek River on a wooden bridge adorned with Buddhist prayer flags.
  • Enter a dense forest of oak and rhododendron (in bloom during spring).
  • Try Tumba, the local fermented millet drink, in Tshoka cafes.
  • Overnight stay in a camp in Tshoka.

Day 4: Tshoka to Dzongri

  • A highly anticipated day on the Goechala Trek.
  • Hike through vibrant rhododendron forests (in spring) and reach Phedang, a meadow with breathtaking mountain views.
  • Continue towards Dzongri, a vast meadow nestled amidst the Himalayas.
  • Feel awe-inspired surrounded by the majestic peaks of the Kanchenjunga range.
  • Overnight stay in Dzongri.

Day 5: Dzongri to Thansing (with Dzongri Top Sunrise View)

  • Wake up early for a spectacular sunrise view from Dzongri Top.
  • Witness the kaleidoscopic colors painting the Singalila and Kanchenjunga ranges.
  • Descend to Kockchurang and hike towards Thansing.
  • Expect colder temperatures at night.
  • Overnight stay in a camp in Thansing.

Day 6: Thansing to Lamuney

  • Enjoy a relatively easy hike, mainly on level ground.
  • Reach Lamuney in 2-3 hours.
  • Take a short side trip to the breathtaking Samiti Lake.
  • Return to your camp in Lamuney (camping is not allowed at the lake).
  • Overnight stay in Lamuney.

Day 7: Lamuney to View Point 1 and Back to Thansing

  • The most demanding day, but with lighter backpacks (leave some gear at Thansing).
  • Trek to View Point 1 before sunrise for a truly unforgettable experience.
  • Return to Thansing for an overnight stay.

Day 8: Thansing to Tshoka

  • Hike through forests with a mostly level gradient and minor ascents/descents.
  • Exercise caution on descents.
  • Overnight stay in a camp in Tshoka.

Day 9: Tshoka to Yuksom

  • Retrace your steps from Tshoka back to Yuksom.
  • End your trek in Yuksom.
  • Overnight stay in a hotel in Yuksom.

Day 10: Departure from Yuksom to Siliguri

  • Board your vehicles for the return journey to Siliguri.
  • Farewell to the magnificent Himalayas.

  • Nourishment: Enjoy delicious vegetarian meals from the first day’s dinner to the last day’s brunch.
  • Lodging: Experience a mix of tent camping and, where available, guesthouses throughout the trek.

Exclusion

  • Travel to Basecamp: Please note that pickup and drop-off from your hometown is not included in the trek package. You will need to arrange your own transportation to the trek’s starting point.
  • Personal Expenses: Remember to budget for personal costs like tips, medications, phone calls, and any additional items you may need during the trek.
  • Trek Assistance: Transportation support during the trek can be arranged for an additional cost. Please inquire for details and availability.
  • Luggage Transport: Porters or mules are available to carry your personal luggage (up to 12 kg per bag) for a daily fee of Rs 350.

  • Adapt your clothing choices based on the time of year you’re trekking. Consider the average temperatures and weather conditions for the Goechala Trek during your chosen season.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation due to Natural Disasters or Unforeseen Circumstances:

Suppose a trek is cancelled at the last minute due to a natural disaster or unforeseeable circumstances (such as floods, earthquakes, landslides, attacks, or bandh). In that case, Trekking Cougars will issue a Trek voucher for the full amount. The voucher can be used for the same or a different trek over the next year.

Client Cancellations:

  • Cancellations made within 30 days of the trek’s start date will receive a full refund.
  • Cancellations made between 30 and 20 days before the trek will receive a 50% refund.
  • There will be no refund for cancellations made less than 20 days before the trek begins.

Please note that all refunds are subject to a 4% cancellation charge to cover processing fees. Additionally, trek insurance is non-refundable.

Trekking Cougars assumes no responsibility for any damage or injury to your clothing, equipment, or other belongings while on the trek. The trek fee covers all expenses associated with the trek, from start to finish, as outlined in the specific trek itinerary.
