Starting in the beautiful Tirthan Valley, the Gushaini to Shilt Hut Trek is an exciting 4-day trip through the beautiful scenery of the Great Himalayan National Park. This easy walk is best in April, June, October, or November, and it goes up to an elevation of over 3000 metres. The first stop on your trip is Gushaini, which is famous for its trout fishing and traditional Himalayan buildings. As you walk through the low-altitude tropical woods, you’ll see small streams, waterfalls, and the GHNP’s unique species that are only found in the Western Himalayas. Before you start the steep climb to the beautiful Shilt Hut, you can get to the Himalayan desert from the Rolla base camp.
Keep an eye out for the beautiful Western Tragopan and Monal as you travel. They are just two of the many beautiful bird species that live in this area. When you get to Shilt, you’ll be greeted by a huge field that looks like a natural mat and is surrounded by hills that are up to 5,000 meters high. Here is the best place to enjoy the breathtaking views of the glaciers and mountain ranges all around you. If you like nature and have extra time, you might want to continue your walk to the beautiful Rakhundi Top. There, you might see Goral, Himalayan Tahr, Blue Sheep, or even the hard-to-find Black and Brown Bears. This extra walk will give you a better experience of the park’s wildness and a chance to see its many kinds of wildlife. The Shilt Hut Trek is one of the GHNP’s easiest and shortest hikes, and it gives you a real sense of the park’s wild beauty. If you’ve been hiking before or are just a nature lover looking for a unique adventure, this walk will leave you in awe of the Himalayas’ raw power and beauty.
