The Lidderwat Trek is a mesmerizing adventure that takes you through the stunning landscapes of Kashmir, making it a top choice for nature lovers and trekking enthusiasts. This enchanting trek meanders through lush evergreen forests filled with majestic pine and maple trees, ultimately leading to the breathtaking Lidder River. Situated between the Kolahoi and Tarsar mountain ranges, Lidderwat serves as a gateway to various iconic treks, including the Kolahoi Glacier,
Tarsar-Marsar lakes, and Satlanjan Valley, along with several high-altitude lakes and peaks. The region’s significance lies in its role as the convergence point for rivers originating from these glaciers, which give rise to the picturesque Lidder River.
During the summer months, the verdant landscapes of Lidderwat attract local shepherds, providing ample grazing grounds for their herds. The trek begins in Aru village near Pahalgam and is accessible from April to October, when the weather is most favorable. Covering approximately 10–13 km, this trek can be completed in 5–7 hours and features gentle climbs, wooden bridges over streams, and panoramic views of the valley. Whether you seek an adrenaline-pumping adventure or a serene retreat amidst nature’s beauty, the Lidderwat Trek guarantees an unforgettable experience that immerses you in the untouched wilderness of Kashmir.
