The Trek

A mountain that has barely been touched

Deepgot sits in the upper reaches of the Dhauladhar range, accessible from Khadi Bahi village near Dharamsala — a name you will not find on any commercial trekking aggregator.

The trail climbs through dense oak and rhododendron forest before opening onto a high meadow ridge with sweeping 360° views of the Dhauladhar snow wall, the Kangra Valley, and on clear days, distant ridges beyond Chamba. The summit camp at 2,875 metres sits in rare silence — no generator hum, no vendor stalls, no prior night’s campfire rings from another group.

This is a fixed-date group departure on 25 June 2026. Pickup from Dharamsala at 7:30 AM or Chandigarh at 12:30 AM midnight. All camping equipment, all meals, and your experienced mountain guide are included. You bring yourself and your backpack — we handle everything else.

🏃 A tip from our guides: a daily 30-minute run in the weeks before the trek will make a world of difference on the trail.

Our Track Record

We’ve been here before.
Literally.

2009

Trekking Cougars led one of the first organised treks to Triund — long before the chai stalls, the weekend queues, and every travel blog had a Triund guide. At that time it was just a trail, a mountain, and a group of people who believed it was worth going.

Today

Triund now sees hundreds of trekkers every single weekend. The camps are packed. The trail is worn down. The silence is gone permanently. It took less than a decade for the secret to break — and along the way, a beautiful place was changed forever.

2026

History is repeating itself — and you have the chance to be on the right side of it. Deepgot is exactly what Triund was before anyone found out. Raw, untouched, unruined. Don’t wait 10 years for someone else to write the guidebook. The window is open right now.

Co-Founder Speaks
“In 2009, we organised one of the first treks to Triund when nobody was going there. We watched it become one of the most crowded trails in India. Deepgot is that same feeling — right now, in 2026. The trail is raw. The nature is untouched. And the window will not stay open forever. Come experience it before the world finds out. Don’t wait 10 years and wish you had.”

Why This Trek

Two things money cannot buy anywhere else

01 🚫

No one else goes here. Ever.

Commercial treks survive on volume — hundreds of trekkers share a single established camp. Deepgot has no competing operators, no alternate booking platforms, no cheaper version of this experience. This is an exclusive fixed-group departure. Every campfire, every sunrise, every unbroken view is your group’s alone.

02 👣

Be among the first. This window is real.

Deepgot remains one of the very few locations in Himachal Pradesh where trekker footprints are genuinely rare. No worn paths, no plastic from seasons past, no overcrowded campsites. The Triund story is a warning — a stunning trail changed forever by delay. You know what Triund felt like before? This is it. Right now.

🌿

Leave No Trace — Always

Real Reviews

From the people who’ve been out there with us

★★★★★

“This is what actual trekking looks like — and I’m genuinely glad that people like Jograj are working so hard to protect and promote it. The campsite was completely litter-free, the team was incredibly professional and caring, and what really moved me was seeing how they actively involve local shepherd communities to earn a livelihood from the trek. Being part of Trekking Cougars felt like being part of something that actually matters.”

“There is not a single thing I can complain about — the camp location, the food, the team, the entire experience. Everything is perfect. Other companies should genuinely take note and build something similar to what Trekking Cougars is doing. These guys are serious about trekking and made absolutely sure every person in our group reached the summit. That commitment is rare.”

“I’m so glad we did our first event with this incredible bunch of people. They know exactly what they’re doing. Honestly — I never even knew a place like Deepgot could exist. And now I’m genuinely proud that my very first trek was Deepgot, not Triund. These guys raised the bar completely. Already looking forward to the next one.”

“Very thorough with planning and execution — every detail was thought through. I’m 45 and my son is 12, and the team took care of both of us at every single step. Guided us patiently, made sure we were never left behind or overwhelmed. The food was excellent throughout. Kudos to the entire Trekking Cougars team.”

“I’ve done Triund three times and was starting to feel I’d outgrown Dharamsala trekking. Deepgot completely reset that feeling. The silence at the summit camp on night two — I’ll remember it for years. This is the trail for people who want something real, not just something popular.”

“Signed up solo, ended up with a group of people who felt like old friends by Day 2. The TC team was obsessive about safety, the food was genuinely good, and they made sure every single person felt looked after throughout. Zero complaints — and I’m a very tough critic.”

Questions

Everything you need to know

What is the exact Chandigarh pickup time and location?
Chandigarh pickup is on the night of 24 June at 12:30 AM (midnight) — so you depart Sunday night and arrive in Dharamsala by early morning on 25 June. The exact assembly point in Chandigarh is confirmed post-booking. Please be at the pickup point by 12:15 AM to avoid delays.
What’s the difference between the ₹8,600 and ₹10,860 bookings?
The trek itself — trail, guide, camp, meals, experience — is completely identical. The only difference is the pickup/drop point and return time. ₹8,600 (Dharamsala): pickup 7:30 AM, drop ~1:30 PM on 27 June. ₹10,860 (Chandigarh): pickup 12:30 AM midnight on 25 June (overnight drive), drop ~6:00 PM on 27 June.
Is this suitable for first-time trekkers?
Absolutely. Deepgot is rated Easy to Moderate. No technical sections, no extreme altitude. If you can walk 4–5 hours at a comfortable pace with breaks, you are prepared. Follow the 14-day fitness plan on this page and you’ll be more than ready. Multiple first-timers — including a 12-year-old and a 45-year-old — have completed this trek with us.
Can my elderly parent or young child come without trekking?
Yes. Our Family Base Camp booking (₹6,000 per person) covers family members who won’t trek. They stay at our pahadi homestay at the base village with all meals, chai, and snacks included, and spend the days exploring the village, the riverside, the natural pond, and enjoying the mountain views and evening bonfire. The trekking group goes up knowing their family is completely comfortable.
Is rental gear available from Chandigarh?
Yes. Rental gear can be arranged from Chandigarh — trekking boots, rain jackets, and trekking poles. Message us after booking with your shoe size and gear requirements and we’ll confirm availability. Sleeping bags and tents are already included in your booking — you don’t need to rent those.
What is a personal porter and do I need one?
A porter carries your main backpack (up to ~12 kg) for the full trek at ₹1,200 per day. Most healthy trekkers manage without one on Deepgot — the distances are short and the team carries communal gear. Porters are recommended for first-timers with heavy bags, older trekkers, or anyone wanting to walk completely hands-free. They also provide direct income to local shepherd communities.
Is there mobile network or charging at the campsites?
Limited network at Khadi Bahi village and briefly at the lower camp. At the Deepgot summit camp, connectivity is minimal to nonexistent. No charging facilities at campsites — bring a fully charged power bank (10,000–20,000 mAh recommended). Being unreachable for two days in the mountains is, frankly, part of the experience.
What is the cancellation policy?
Full refund for cancellations 30+ days before (before 26 May 2026). 50% refund for cancellations 20–30 days before (26 May – 5 June). No refund under 20 days before. A 4% payment processing fee applies to all refunds. Personal travel insurance that covers trek cancellation is strongly recommended.
